The Hague -- Millions of Muslims around the world are celebrating the first day of Eid al-Fitr, (known in the Netherlands as 'het suikerfeest' - the sugar feast) a festival marking the end of a month-long fast of Ramadan.
The start of the three-day Eid holiday depends on the sighting of the new crescent moon. During the holiday, Muslims visit families and neighbours, exchange gifts and enjoy lunchtime feasts. The NSBA expresses its sincerest congratulations to the Muslim community in the Netherlands and Muslims all over the world on this holly occasion wishing them peace and prosperity. |
